The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zézinho Amaral during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Carrapichel - FDFDF getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Zézinho Amaral hit a great ball. Carrapichel - FDFDF's Doni Botelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by János Oltean in the 17th minute of play. José Paulo Paraibano charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Paulo Paraibano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Sever Vintilescu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Doni Botelho skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Carrapichel - FDFDF fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 26th minute. Penalty! Doni Botelho had in the 27thth minute some difficulties stopping Horia Berceanu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 30thth minute of the game Hamílton Moraes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia Rio's Iurie Mutu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. José Paulo Paraibano hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Walmyr Fernandes hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Horia Berceanu, 34 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. János Oltean received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Doni Botelho came out and tried to block the shot, but János Oltean slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 37th minute. Doni Botelho made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Paul Cucu sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sever Vintilescu made a kick off. Doni Botelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sever Vintilescu in the 59th minute of the match. Academia Rio's Sever Vintilescu got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. During the 63rd minute of the match José Paulo Paraibano completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave José Paulo Paraibano a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 63 played minutes Carrapichel - FDFDF got a freekick which was hit by José Paulo Paraibano. If Gino Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Academia Rio's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
