The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Hvam FC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Berthold Sibbern hit a great ball. 9 minutes into the game, Hvam FC's Walentin Barnby nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Runar Støen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Øjvind Maller's late challenge caught a Åsnes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Øjvind Maller helped the player get up and apologised. Rune Gjessing scored 2-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Habakkuk Given, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 26th match minute, Hvam FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kjeld Sterum to maneuver through the defense. In the 27th match minute, Hvam FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Habakkuk Shearer to maneuver through the defense. Åsnes's Rune Gjessing was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 28th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kristian Sandersen got free with Habakkuk Given in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 38th minute, Habakkuk Shearer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hvam FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Runar Støen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frede Raunsholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steffen Askvik's late challenge caught a Hvam FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steffen Askvik helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Hvam FC booed when Åsnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steffen Askvik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Berthold Sibbern kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Hvam FC's Habakkuk Given proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Hvam FC from getting a goal against them. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-2 at half-time.

After 54 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Rune Gjessing. Petter Vartdal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Åsnes's Runar Støen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frede Raunsholm in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Hvam FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rune Gjessing came free, but Habakkuk Given reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hvam FC's Frede Raunsholm got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Habakkuk Given took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rune Gjessing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Hvam FC booed when Åsnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petter Vartdal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Habakkuk Given made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Leirvåg in the 73rd minute of play. After 77 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by John-Einar Bøen. 80 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Berthold Sibbern came free, but Runar Støen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd minute of the match, Frede Raunsholm tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Runar Støen saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Habakkuk Given showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petter Vartdal in the 84th minute of the match. Fede Danmark hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hvam FC's goalkeeper Habakkuk Given, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Habakkuk Shearer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Runar Støen made a huge save. Åsnes's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
