In the 10th match minute, Hexo Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liutauras Rimkevičius to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arūnas Samalionis in the 12th minute of play forced R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Thomas Gascon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vladas Sargūnas might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thomas Gascon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vladas Sargūnas ran back to his position shaking his head. Ernestas Juška's late challenge caught a R.C. Marseille's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernestas Juška helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th minute, Ernestas Juška hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the game, Arūnas Samalionis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Thomas Gascon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of R.C. Marseille booed when Hexo Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irmantas Mažvila didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hexo Utd's Anicetas Eidukonis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Hexo Utd from getting a goal against them. Anicetas Eidukonis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Suchet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. R.C. Marseille's Thomas Gascon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladas Sargūnas in the 28th minute of play. Vladas Sargūnas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Arūnas Samalionis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hexo Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Arūnas Samalionis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomas Gascon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, R.C. Marseille's Victorien Severe got a free kick in the 44th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Hexo Utd's Vladas Sargūnas tried to score from far away in the 45th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Anicetas Eidukonis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Blaise Castera in the 48th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Blaise Castera was the one to do the kick off. Omar Suchet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Anicetas Eidukonis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 67th match minute, R.C. Marseille was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Omar Suchet to maneuver through the defense. Arūnas Samalionis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 70 minutes, Vladas Sargūnas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hexo Utd and the R.C. Marseille players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Hexo Utd getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Vladas Sargūnas hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hexo Utd's zone, Omar Suchet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anicetas Eidukonis came out of the goal and Omar Suchet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thomas Gascon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladas Sargūnas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in R.C. Hexo Utd walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
