In the 13th minute Petrică Panaitoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcel Noica saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Noica made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nichifor Onișoru in the 15th minute of play. Damian Vieru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mugur Cucerdean in the 21st minute. Viorel Lelescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damian Vieru having to interfere. In the last second Damian Vieru throw himself and got hold of the ball when Marius Encioiu in the 24thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When Emerald's Petrică Panaitoiu, in the 27th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Emerald. Petrică Panaitoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Marcel Noica tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcel Noica showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dragoş Sălcudeanu in the 40th minute of the match. Marcel Noica took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dragoş Sălcudeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
