The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Mauro Prata put in a rough tackle. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesar Jenaro in the 35th minute of play forced Figueira SC FSCMZ's goalkeeper Alexsandro Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute Americo Pero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexsandro Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Teodosio Macerio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio Arantes in the 45th minute of play. After the first half Alvarado de Mar del Plata were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Samuca Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Teodosio Macerio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Alvarado de Mar del Plata got a freekick which was hit by Cosme Petrigai. After a defensive mix-up in Alvarado de Mar del Plata's zone, Samuca Gaúcho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodosio Macerio came out of the goal and Samuca Gaúcho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexsandro Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Americo Pero, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Fábio Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Samuca Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Figueira SC FSCMZ booed when Alvarado de Mar del Plata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Jaunti didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the game, Figueira SC FSCMZ's Marcelinho Dias nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Teodosio Macerio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Alvarado de Mar del Plata's Teodosio Macerio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio Arantes in the 88th minute of play. Tadeu Alagoano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 91st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Teodosio Macerio. Alvarado de Mar del Plata's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
