Jaime Mundo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Henny Jans made a huge save. Amador Jakue made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralph Peeters in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Verwachting's Ralph Peeters got a free kick in the 19th minute. 22 minutes in the game, Emiliano Faro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Henny Jans having to interfere. Verwachting's Henny Jans proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Verwachting from getting a goal against them. Klaas Jeuring kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jaime Mundo during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 29 played minutes Leones FC got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Mundo. After a rather tough play, Verwachting's Klaas Jeuring got a free kick in the 32nd minute. With a little luck, Verwachting's Henny Jans got control of the ball when Alejo Louis tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 37 played minutes, Leones FC's Emiliano Faro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Henny Jans came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Leones FC reached it. After 40 minutes, Gerjan Das mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Verwachting and the Leones FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Verwachting getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Klaas Jeuring hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejo Louis got free with Henny Jans in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 46 played minutes Leones FC got a freekick which was hit by Alejo Louis. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stephan Boezeman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Leones FC's Amador Jakue got control of the ball when Stephan Boezeman tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Dante Mannie fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Verwachting's Henny Jans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejo Louis in the 63rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Mundo in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henny Jans saved Verwachting from getting behind. Henny Jans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Mundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 72 minutes, Alejo Louis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leones FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alejo Louis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Verwachting getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Joop Heinen hit a great ball. 82 minutes into the game, Alejo Louis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Henny Jans was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Emiliano Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
