After 6 played minutes The Cavern Club got a freekick which was hit by Eusebio Larpe. Paulo Abreu struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Tomás Esiquio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sabadim Harammes PRD. Joaquim Corte-Real sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 12th match minute, The Cavern Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geronimo Vincente to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Paulo Abreu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tomás Esiquio. Tomás Esiquio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Fidel Macias lost his temper 18 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 26thth minute of the game Ermegildo Otsoko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sabadim Harammes PRD's Octávio Valério was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 31st minute, Anselmo Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sabadim Harammes PRD's Octávio Valério played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermegildo Otsoko in the 32nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Martín Palermo put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Octávio Valério. The Cavern Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 42nd minute, when Marcos Sacramento scored to the left of an out of position Tomás Esiquio, making the score, 3-1. 45 minutes into the game, Idalécio Alvarenga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sabadim Harammes PRD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Cavern Club the free kick. The supporters of The Cavern Club booed when Sabadim Harammes PRD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Idalécio Alvarenga didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martín Palermo was the one to do the kick off. Octávio Valério was a little too slow when Basilio Lorien got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 3-2. With a little luck, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Octávio Valério got control of the ball when Martín Palermo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, The Cavern Club's goal looked a bit too open when Marcos Sacramento came free, but Tomás Esiquio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Martín Palermo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Cavern Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. With a little luck, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Octávio Valério got control of the ball when Martín Palermo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Martín Palermo could shoot a difficult shot in the 70th minute, which Octávio Valério however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martín Palermo got free with Octávio Valério in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Cavern Club's Tomás Esiquio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Corte-Real in the 73rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Basilio Lorien kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Octávio Valério. That made the score 3-4 in the 75 minute of play. 84 minutes had been played when some careless play by The Cavern Club's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Valério Fontoura was slow to take the kick. During this time Sabadim Harammes PRD's players had a chance to rest. Sabadim Harammes PRD's Valério Fontoura was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tomás Esiquio in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Martín Palermo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Octávio Valério firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Valério Fontoura got a free kick in the 94th minute. It was beautiful to see The Cavern Club's Martín Cabezon in action when he in the 96th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The Cavern Club's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
