An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fabiano Figueiredo in the 20th minute of play forced Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's goalkeeper Fabio Ponce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Cruzeiro MZC -DMZ- getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Luiz Eduardo Domingues hit a great ball. Haroldo Recife acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 23rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Geovanni Valle. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geovânio Toscano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After having played for 48 minutes, Geovanni Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geovanni Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The wind increased when Perlaza Corcoba made the kick off in the second half. Haroldo Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubén Puerta in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute Perlaza Corcoba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Perlaza Corcoba took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Haroldo Recife. Haroldo Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 61st minute of the game, Quiróz Maquiano landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 61 minutes, Luís Fabiano Figueiredo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cruzeiro MZC -DMZ- and the Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 62nd minute, Luís Fabiano Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's Hector-Luis Cadrecha got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cruzeiro MZC -DMZ-'s Haroldo Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector-Luis Cadrecha in the 75th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fabiano Figueiredo got free with Fabio Ponce in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Hector-Luis Cadrecha fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato's protests and gave Hector-Luis Cadrecha a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th match minute, Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector-Luis Cadrecha to maneuver through the defense. If Geovanni Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro MZC -DMZ-'s goal looked a bit too open when Hector-Luis Cadrecha came free, but Haroldo Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovanni Valle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cruzeiro MZC -DMZ- players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Lechero«ISTDG» Ambato.
