With a left leg Benedito Nóbrega saved Galo do Japi from getting behind. 14 minutes into the match, Luís Madureira dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of 李卫震, 1-0. 李卫震 didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Alberto Favoretto went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. If Carlos Alberto Favoretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Madureira made a kick off. When Kléber Koehler fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
