The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thomas Gobeleyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amado Farias, who was totally free with the ball in the 2nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Jean De Meesemaeckere managed to get in a good position for a shot. Selebi-Phikwe's supporters rose to their feet, but Jean De Meesemaeckere was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Prospero Curcio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 4 played minutes C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo got a freekick which was hit by Sixto Rafel. In the 5th minute, Cederique Van Calster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amado Farias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Gobeleyns having to interfere. Prospero Curcio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alain Roeckeloes in the 22nd minute. After 24 played minutes Selebi-Phikwe got a freekick which was hit by Benedict van Eijnde. Thomas Gobeleyns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Farias in the 25th minute of play. Prospero Curcio made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Jean De Meesemaeckere sent off a good shot on target. Jean De Meesemaeckere hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Thomas Gobeleyns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Americo Crispo in the 33rd minute of play. If Cederique Van Calster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Felix Corderro fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo's protests and gave Felix Corderro a yellow card for diving instead. Selebi-Phikwe's Thomas Gobeleyns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Farias in the 44th minute of play. After the first half C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Amado Farias to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Jean De Meesemaeckere's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Prospero Curcio was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Thomas Gobeleyns made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amado Farias in the 58th minute. After a rather tough play, Selebi-Phikwe's Cederique Van Calster got a free kick in the 59th minute. Thomas Gobeleyns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Farias in the 61st minute of play. In the 66th minute, Aureliano Leoiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes into the match, Felix Corderro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Thomas Gobeleyns, 0-2. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Felix Corderro took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Thomas Gobeleyns to make any attempt to save it. In the 77th minute, Jean De Meesemaeckere got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aquiles Aznaro hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Prospero Curcio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jean De Meesemaeckere's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Prospero Curcio came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Selebi-Phikwe's Alain Roeckeloes. But to his dismay, Alain Roeckeloes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. 91 minutes into the game, Alain Roeckeloes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Selebi-Phikwe's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo the free kick. After 91 played minutes Selebi-Phikwe got a freekick which was hit by Alain Roeckeloes. Thomas Gobeleyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Corderro, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing C.A.S.D. 1° de mayo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
