In the 5th minute, Júlio de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 6 played minutes, Stellenbosch's Roman Gerazan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elder Monteiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stellenbosch reached it. Teobaldo Cheche was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Vitinho Galvão showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. In the 12th match minute, Breguete FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Leal to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute of the match Modesto Fliz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elder Monteiro skillfully saved the ball. When Stellenbosch's Silverio Garcia in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Breguete FC's goalie prevented a goal. 15 minutes into the match, Breguete FC's goal looked a bit too open when Silverio Garcia came free, but Elder Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stellenbosch's Teobaldo Cheche proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Stellenbosch from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silverio Garcia in the 23rd minute of play forced Breguete FC's goalkeeper Elder Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elder Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Oinatz in the 24th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Silverio Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stellenbosch's supporters rose to their feet, but Silverio Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elder Monteiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th minute, Breguete FC's Evandro Salles dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 33rd minute Dalmacio Jacindo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 35 played minutes Vitinho Galvão rounded Stellenbosch's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-0. Elder Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Oinatz in the 42nd minute of play. In the 45th minute, Alberto Oinatz made a precise shot to the right of Elder Monteiro. Breguete FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alberto Oinatz made a kick off. Breguete FC's Elder Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silverio Garcia in the 53rd minute of play. The supporters of Stellenbosch booed when Breguete FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luiz Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stellenbosch's Silverio Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emerson Leal hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Alberto Oinatz took a quick shot and it went in 3-2 without a chance for Elder Monteiro to make any attempt to save it. Breguete FC's Elder Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silverio Garcia in the 71st minute of play. Iker Garin hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Elder Monteiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silverio Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silverio Garcia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Sílvio Luiz Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teobaldo Cheche saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Stellenbosch's zone, Sílvio Luiz Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teobaldo Cheche came out of the goal and Sílvio Luiz Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elder Monteiro made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Silverio Garcia sent off a good shot on target. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
