Octav Chițu kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Manos Papaiakovou didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silviu Stoian went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Flavius Popoacă made an important save on a dangerous shot by Panagiotis Bourousis in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Eagles's goal looked a bit too open when Silviu Stoian came free, but Manos Papaiakovou reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 22 minutes, Ionuț Oroveanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rovine Craiova and the Go Ahead Eagles players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Rovine Craiova's Ionuț Oroveanu got a free kick in the 22nd minute. A collision led to Go Ahead Eagles getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Christodoulos Vazakas hit a great ball. Go Ahead Eagles's Manos Papaiakovou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ionuț Oroveanu in the 29th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Ntinos Vounatsos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavius Popoacă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manos Papaiakovou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silviu Stoian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silviu Stoian in the 35th minute of play forced Go Ahead Eagles's goalkeeper Manos Papaiakovou to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Silviu Stoian's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manos Papaiakovou was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. One of Go Ahead Eagles:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rovine Craiova:s goal. Octav Chițu placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After the first half Rovine Craiova were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 52nd minute, Ionică Drâmba reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Manos Papaiakovou. The goal made the score 0-3. Flavius Popoacă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikos Moustos in the 59th minute of play. 60 minutes into the game, Ionică Drâmba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rovine Craiova's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Go Ahead Eagles the free kick. In the 62nd minute Mihnea Potra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manos Papaiakovou saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Go Ahead Eagles booed when Rovine Craiova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cătălin Cojan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Silviu Stoian notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Go Ahead Eagles's Manos Papaiakovou. Manos Papaiakovou was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Takis Chatzivrettas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavius Popoacă having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ionuț Oroveanu in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manos Papaiakovou prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match was over Rovine Craiova could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Go Ahead Eagles throughout the match.
