Spectators: 7779 (Terracing: 5835, Seating: 1789, VIP seats: 155) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Agostinho Moreno kicked off to start the match. Ronaldão Vidal took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olivier Kahn. Olivier Kahn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the game, Bastiaan Bruintjes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lemel SV's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maxaranguape - FSCMZ the free kick. After a rather tough play, Lemel SV's Bastiaan Bruintjes got a free kick in the 13th minute. Olivier Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agostinho Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Lemel SV's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Secco came free, but Olivier Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th match minute, Lemel SV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dries Teunisse to maneuver through the defense. After 30 played minutes Lemel SV got a freekick which was hit by Sjoerd Bosschaart. Olivier Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agostinho Moreno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reinhard Braamhaar was the one to do the kick off. 59 minutes into the game, Lemel SV's Reinhard Braamhaar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Júnior Vergílio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's zone, Gabriele Batistuta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júnior Vergílio came out of the goal and Gabriele Batistuta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lemel SV! Olivier Kahn had in the 75thth minute some difficulties stopping Ulisses Ferreira's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. A hard shot by Anderson Furtado from long distance, 84 minutes into the match, got Olivier Kahn's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The supporters of Maxaranguape - FSCMZ booed when Lemel SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudolf Hardering didn't get a good kick on the ball. Agostinho Moreno was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 95th minute. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
