The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Anders Fjeldberg's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Octávio Moita firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 12th minute of the match, Tor-Magnus Skjelstad tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Octávio Moita saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 15 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Tor-Magnus Skjelstad came free, but Octávio Moita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Edvin Grønlie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandrino Bessa hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Honorato Calado to make the kick off. Halvor Selstad recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd match minute, SC Braga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Belo to maneuver through the defense. After 66 minutes, Cassiano Guerreiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Braga and the Untte BK players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Cassiano Guerreiro hit a great ball. In the 70th minute, Hélder Trindade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Octávio Moita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Halvor Selstad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Untte BK's Inge Eira got a free kick in the 78th minute. A collision led to SC Braga getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Hélder Trindade hit a great ball. Hans Nordnes made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Gentil Vasques sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute Honorato Calado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans Nordnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, SC Braga's Egídio Paixão ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hans Nordnes. Hans Nordnes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Braga eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
