Herman Falkrantz started the match with the kick off. In the 38th match minute, Kerkyra FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kyriakos Lavdas to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute Kurt-Jürgen Hamrin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dimitris Giannakidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

John Brandt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Apostolos Fragoulakis in the 53rd minute of the match. When Giorgos Maragozis fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kerkyra FC's protests and gave Giorgos Maragozis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Giorgos Maragozis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herman Falkrantz in the 63rd minute of play forced Kerkyra FC's goalkeeper Dimitris Giannakidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
