An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardinho Simão in the 13th minute of play forced Brothers of Mercy's goalkeeper August Frykberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clube do Remo MZ's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Caetano Camargo in the 14th minute. Ricardinho Simão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but August Frykberg made a huge save. After some careless play in the Brothers of Mercy defense, José Maria Rossi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of August Frykberg. The Brothers of Mercy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that August Frykberg should have stopped the shot. When Gustavo Reis fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube do Remo MZ's protests and gave Gustavo Reis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Gustavo Reis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ricardinho Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Maria Rossi came free with the goalkeeper in the 38th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and August Frykberg could save by the left post. In the 44th minute, Edwin Lundqvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 46 minutes into the match, Brothers of Mercy's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Toscano came free, but August Frykberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ricardinho Simão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Zé Carlos Toscano fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube do Remo MZ's protests and gave Zé Carlos Toscano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Clube do Remo MZ getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. August Frykberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandrinho Pernambucano in the 57th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Ricardinho Simão notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Brothers of Mercy's August Frykberg. August Frykberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sandrinho Pernambucano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 74 minutes into the game, Gustav Forssberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brothers of Mercy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube do Remo MZ the free kick. Wiktor Jespersson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Anderson Meira. Clube do Remo MZ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Brothers of Mercy players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Clube do Remo MZ.
