Florian Guderian dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 36 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Máximo Pimentel came free, but Florian Guderian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Florian Guderian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Paixão, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pierre Möhn during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Sydney FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Pierre Möhn hit a great ball. Bento Melo hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the match, Abel Paixão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Florian Guderian. Sydney FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abel Paixão was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abel Paixão made a kick off. Gabriel Michel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Marques having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Francisco Noronha got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Hinrik Grobmaul lost his temper 68 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 68th minute, Hinrik Grobmaul hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bento Melo might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Florian Guderian. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bento Melo ran back to his position shaking his head. Francisco Noronha took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Florian Guderian. With a little luck, Sydney FC's Florian Guderian got control of the ball when André Rego tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 80th minute Abel Paixão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florian Guderian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabrício Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kees Plappert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Sydney FC's Kees Plappert got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 84th minute Kees Plappert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabrício Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Filinto Pegado got a free kick in the 85th minute. After 86 minutes of play, Sydney FC's Kees Plappert made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
