He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ágætis Byrjun reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jimmy Strömberg got free with Ab Veenema in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11th match minute, Ágætis Byrjun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucien Daems to maneuver through the defense. Glentown FC's Henric Forsberg couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 12th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ágætis Byrjun. Brain Diest sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Kvist stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgard Ax's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. In the 19th minute, Jens Ahlén hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 22 minutes into the game, Brain Diest cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Tommy Kvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 26 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Boukjan Schalkwijk. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgar Buys in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Kvist saved Glentown FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Glentown FC's Henric Forsberg got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Tommy Kvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Buys, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 44 minutes into the match, Edgar Buys notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Glentown FC's Tommy Kvist. Tommy Kvist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgar Buys to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Ax in the 54th minute of play forced Glentown FC's goalkeeper Tommy Kvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60thth minute of the game Brain Diest who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Glentown FC's Tommy Kvist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bernt Söderberg charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernt Söderberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute, one of Glentown FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Glentown FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gösta Beckström during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ágætis Byrjun booed when Glentown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gösta Beckström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ab Veenema took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Per Strömberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute, Frank Snijders hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glentown FC's Tommy Kvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Glentown FC from getting a goal against them. After 84 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Michael de Kort. Ab Veenema took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torgny Sjögren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
