The crowd rose to their feet as Castanheiro SC's Telmo da Fonseca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luiz Fernando Silva. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. A collision led to Jovens Democratas MZC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Valdemar Guerra hit a great ball. A hard shot by Sebastião Paulista from long distance, 28 minutes into the match, got Luiz Fernando Silva's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Ronaldo Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Luiz Fernando Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Aílton Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dagoberto de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aílton Sousa in the 38th minute of play. Luiz Fernando Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Telmo da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Dagoberto de Queirós didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Valdemar Guerra went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Fonseca to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Guerra got free with Dagoberto de Queirós in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dagoberto de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aílton Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isaltino Dionísio's late challenge caught a Jovens Democratas MZC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isaltino Dionísio helped the player get up and apologised. Isaltino Dionísio hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Paulinho Fonsecas short, quick shot in the 58thth minute got Dagoberto de Queirós to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 62 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Moura. When Paulinho Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Jovens Democratas MZC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulinho Fonseca couldn't finish the play. 68 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo Pinho came free, but Luiz Fernando Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Fernando Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
