Edmundo Falcão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Edmundo Falcão didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lalo Buenaga went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Roegelio Moyua charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roegelio Moyua the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes AFC United got a freekick which was hit by Roegelio Moyua. In the 27th minute Charro Pereceira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, AFC United's Roegelio Moyua got a free kick in the 28th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kauã Terra in the 29th minute of play forced AFC United's goalkeeper Pedro Torrens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmundo Falcão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector-Luis Conllas in the 31st minute of play. After 34 minutes of play, Joinville City - FSCMZ's Luiz Fabiano Leão made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Torrens was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edmundo Falcão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charro Pereceira in the 37th minute of play. AFC United's Pedro Torrens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio de Alcântara in the 39th minute of play. Pedro Torrens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fabiano Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Joinville City - FSCMZ were awarded a corner. Kauã Terra went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Kauã Terra almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AFC United's Pedro Torrens did a great save. In the 46th match minute, AFC United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lalo Buenaga to maneuver through the defense. The Joinville City - FSCMZ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AFC United were winning 1-2.

Hector-Luis Conllas walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The AFC United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AFC United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
