Champions Iasi were awarded a corner in the 3th minute after Sagene IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stefan Pieters took the corner. The corner ended in Stefan Pieters almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sagene IF's Glyn Wedlock did a great save. The supporters of Sagene IF booed when Champions Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harri Takavirta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hans-Kristian Aanes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Waldemar Gierlach scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Glyn Wedlock, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 10th minute, Fabian Zăreanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 14th minute, Christer Kinn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stefan Pieters took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 15th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Glyn Wedlock. Sagene IF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Champions Iasi's goalkeeper Rouven Nussli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ivan Óbolo. In the 21st minute Waldemar Gierlach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glyn Wedlock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Champions Iasi's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stefan Pieters in the 22nd minute. If Waldemar Gierlach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raymond Michalsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Rouven Nussli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glyn Wedlock stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Waldemar Gierlach's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Champions Iasi were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Sagene IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stefan Pieters took the corner. Sagene IF's Glyn Wedlock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldemar Gierlach in the 38th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Waldemar Gierlach was the one to do the kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Waldemar Gierlach sped through Sagene IF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Glyn Wedlock. If Waldemar Gierlach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glyn Wedlock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Gierlach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waldemar Gierlach's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 57thth minute, Glyn Wedlock skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Waldemar Gierlach fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Glyn Wedlock having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Sagene IF's goalkeeper Glyn Wedlock had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Waldemar Gierlach. When Champions Iasi's Waldemar Gierlach in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sagene IF's goalie prevented a goal. Glyn Wedlock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isac Muntian in the 66th minute of play. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 84 minutes into the match, Champions Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Christer Kinn came free, but Rouven Nussli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rouven Nussli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christer Kinn, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Waldemar Gierlach kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Glyn Wedlock. That made the score 0-5 in the 90 minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Champions Iasi had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
