An unexpectedly hard shot by Caicedo Berrondo in the 6th minute of play forced Remedios SC's goalkeeper Bunda Lele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, C.A. GUAYACO's Jorge Freitas got a free kick in the 7th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mendoza Joseph in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bunda Lele prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Mendoza Joseph put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Bunda Lele. 23 minutes into the match, Caicedo Berrondo notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Remedios SC's Bunda Lele. Bunda Lele was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 26th minute Sérgio Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bunda Lele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Remedios SC's Bunda Lele played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mendoza Joseph in the 28th minute of play. After 30 played minutes Remedios SC got a freekick which was hit by Natanael Vale. GUAYACO:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Remedios SC:s goal. C.A. GUAYACO:s Oso Amezaga showed great skill when he stopped Luisão Ribeiro:s penalty. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. GUAYACO's zone, Chivu Quintana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oso Amezaga came out of the goal and Chivu Quintana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wincent Wawro to make the kick off. Bunda Lele showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio Silveira in the 51st minute of the match. Bunda Lele made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sérgio Silveira in the 53rd minute of play. In the 53rd match minute, Remedios SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Remedios SC's Bunda Lele got control of the ball when Sérgio Silveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chivu Quintana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oso Amezaga having to interfere. The supporters of Remedios SC booed when C.A. GUAYACO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 70 minutes into the game, Luisão Ribeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Remedios SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.A. GUAYACO the free kick. In the 70th match minute, Remedios SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisão Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. Agustin Pillado replaced Sérgio Silveira. The corner ended in Hieronim Faron almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Remedios SC's Bunda Lele did a great save. Bunda Lele took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hieronim Faron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute, Hieronim Faron sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Remedios SC's Bunda Lele didn't even have to move. When Jorge Freitas fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A. GUAYACO's protests and gave Jorge Freitas a yellow card for diving instead. Bunda Lele made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustin Pillado in the 91st minute of play. Caicedo Berrondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Bunda Lele tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Remedios SC's goalkeeper Bunda Lele had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustin Pillado. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustin Pillado got free with Bunda Lele in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. C.A. GUAYACO played a much better game than Remedios SC and deserved their victory. The Remedios SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
