The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Apolo Irigoyen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Tom Saunders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tom Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Renato Goycolea in the 5th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Conor Alcock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Apolo Irigoyen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Martin Švácha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Edinburgh City's Frankie Conlon got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 22nd match minute, Edinburgh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciaran McAy to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the game, Frankie Conlon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Edinburgh City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave General Velásquez the free kick. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Frankie Conlon hit a great ball. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Edinburgh City from getting a goal against them. Guy Gordon kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Tom Saunders didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guntademaro Goyenechea went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 32nd minute, General Velásquez's Apolo Irigoyen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tom Saunders. Tom Saunders yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Edinburgh City from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

General Velásquez's Gustav Tidéksson was substituted for Marciano Gibson. Guntademaro Goyenechea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Saunders having to interfere. Apolo Irigoyen took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tom Saunders. Tom Saunders dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apolo Irigoyen in the 60th minute of play forced Edinburgh City's goalkeeper Tom Saunders to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Guntademaro Goyenechea notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders. Tom Saunders was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. General Velásquez made a substitution. Jorge Vicente Squella replaced Apolo Irigoyen. In the 69th minute, Guntademaro Goyenechea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tom Saunders was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. In the 74th minute Jorge Vicente Squella shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johny De Raeijmaecker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Tom Saunders showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guntademaro Goyenechea in the 82nd minute of the match. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Frankie Conlon hit a great ball. 92 minutes into the match, Jorge Vicente Squella had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Saunders. Edinburgh City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Vicente Squella was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 10-0. Guntademaro Goyenechea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Saunders stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Vicente Squella's shot from short distance in the 96th minute.
