With a little luck, Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio got control of the ball when Lv Yuan Kuan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lv Yuan Kuan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. After 28 played minutes Lv Yuan Kuan rounded Atlético Nacional's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-1. After 31 played minutes FC Pepsi got a freekick which was hit by Alf Klint. After 33 minutes, Celestino Rudolfo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Nacional and the FC Pepsi players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Atlético Nacional booed when FC Pepsi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Sammut Castelletti didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Joshua Sammut Castelletti notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio. Teodoro Peio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Teodoro Peio was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 45th minute, Vicente Sasoin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Nacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-2.

Carlos Alberto Azevedo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Paul Holmstedt made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lv Yuan Kuan in the 53rd minute of play forced Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Teodoro Peio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was a well-played corner which Bruno Lucente managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After 60 played minutes FC Pepsi got a freekick which was hit by Kanu Kanu. Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joshua Sammut Castelletti in the 62nd minute of play. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Teodoro Peio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 65th minute, Hubert Ekerot got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Nacional's zone, Bruno Lucente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodoro Peio came out of the goal and Bruno Lucente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vicente Sasoin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Paul Holmstedt came out and tried to block the shot, but Vicente Sasoin slotted it home off the left post making it 5-3 in the 71st minute. FC Pepsi's Kurt Lundin was substituted for Lv Yuan Kuan.
