Thanks to some nice moves Enrique Henry could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Qiu Chuan Ran however easily saved by the left post. Qiu Chuan Ran stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Santos Chinto's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Afonso Veloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonzalo Lixandro in the 14th minute of play. Hermengildo Frances scored 1-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Qiu Chuan Ran, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alvi Boton's Afonso Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Faria in the 27th minute of play. If Rodolfo Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Alvi Boton's Enrique Henry got a free kick in the 30th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Hermengildo Frances managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alvi Boton's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermengildo Frances was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Qiu Chuan Ran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Afonso Veloso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raimundo Ventura's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alvi Boton's goalkeeper Afonso Veloso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Afonso Veloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonzalo Lixandro in the 40th minute of the match. In the 40th match minute, Alvi Boton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Alvarez to maneuver through the defense. When Raimundo Ventura came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raimundo Ventura couldn't finish the play. 42 minutes into the match, Raimundo Ventura notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Alvi Boton's Afonso Veloso. Afonso Veloso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Raimundo Ventura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Afonso Veloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raimundo Ventura was the one to do the kick off. Raimundo Venturas short, quick shot in the 51stth minute got Afonso Veloso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 52nd minute of play forced Alvi Boton's goalkeeper Afonso Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raimundo Ventura got free with Afonso Veloso in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 56th minute of play forced Alvi Boton's goalkeeper Afonso Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvi Boton's Afonso Veloso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Alvi Boton from getting a goal against them. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Firmin in the 60th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enrique Henry in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Qiu Chuan Ran saved Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. from getting behind. After 65 minutes Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Apolo Alvarez who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Apolo Alvarez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Qiu Chuan Ran quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 68 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goal looked a bit too open when Santos Chinto came free, but Qiu Chuan Ran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Veloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 73 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Gonzalo Lixandro sped through Alvi Boton's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Afonso Veloso. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. made a substitution. Modesto Bras replaced Israel Carvalhal. With his leg Afonso Veloso managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Raimundo Ventura fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Gonzalo Lixandro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Afonso Veloso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Claudemiro Madureira got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Qiu Chuan Ran stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Santos Chinto's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute, Gonzalo Lixandro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Afonso Veloso was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-7. Alvi Boton's Afonso Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 89th minute of play. Gonzalo Lixandro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Afonso Veloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
