In the 22nd match minute, Ajax was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Palladino to maneuver through the defense. Alvaro Pardini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tonton Eren in the 28th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Bruno Nazzaro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gigi Buffon was relentless in the 30th minute of the game.
