Laurențiu Stelaru kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spiros Bekyros in the 5th minute of play forced Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Ionel Panaitoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Spiros Bekyros's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ionel Panaitoiu firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 12th minute Idar Reistad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beto Sola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute Phoenix Strikers were awarded a corner. Olimpiu Mustea went to the cornerflag to take it. 15 minutes into the match, FCSB CUENCA's goal looked a bit too open when Traian Moldovan came free, but Beto Sola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Ionel Panaitoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Spiros Bekyros. Beto Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olimpiu Mustea in the 18th minute of play. Idar Reistad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Beto Sola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcio Carreira in the 25th minute of play forced Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Ionel Panaitoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ionel Panaitoiu made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Spiros Bekyros sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Salbatore Colillas in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ionel Panaitoiu saved Phoenix Strikers from getting behind. Phoenix Strikers's Ionel Panaitoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcio Carreira in the 31st minute of play. Beto Sola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Traian Moldovan in the 33rd minute of the match. Ionel Panaitoiu made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Spiros Bekyros sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute, FCSB CUENCA's Spiros Bekyros ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ionel Panaitoiu. Ionel Panaitoiu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Traian Moldovan was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute Traian Moldovan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beto Sola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute Spiros Bekyros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Panaitoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigi Pantea charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gigi Pantea the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Phoenix Strikers fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcio Carreira during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ovidiu Popescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Spiros Bekyros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ionel Panaitoiu was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes had been played when some careless play by FCSB CUENCA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Olimpiu Mustea was slow to take the kick. During this time Phoenix Strikers's players had a chance to rest. Phoenix Strikers's Cristinel Eftimiu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Beto Sola in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Idar Reistad in the 98th minute of play forced FCSB CUENCA's goalkeeper Beto Sola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FCSB CUENCA were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Phoenix Strikers to leave the ground with a draw.
