In the 2nd minute, Sandu Gheorghiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Harold Fraser hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandu Gheorghiu in the 9th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcel Petculescu kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 10th minute of the match Bradley Carr sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thomás Linares skillfully saved the ball. Marcel Petculescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fergus Fairbairn having to interfere. Fergus Fairbairn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugen Lupea in the 14th minute of the match. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Huștiu in the 15th minute of play. After 18 minutes of play, ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Eugen Lupea made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Marcel Petculescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victor Huștiu kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Rangers FC's Darius Bontine got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugen Lupea in the 26th minute of play. Fergus Fairbairn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remus Vermeşan in the 27th minute of play. Marcel Petculescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fergus Fairbairn having to interfere. Sandu Gheorghiu scored 0-2 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fergus Fairbairn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sandu Gheorghiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fergus Fairbairn having to make a save. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remus Vermeşan, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. 44 minutes into the game, ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Eugen Lupea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fergus Fairbairn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. After the first half ASF BAIA MARE -MM- were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raymond Johnston stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when ASF BAIA MARE -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remus Vermeşan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dorin Caloian charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dorin Caloian the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th match minute, ASF BAIA MARE -MM- was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorin Caloian to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tyler McCraw in the 57th minute of play forced ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s goalkeeper Thomás Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute of the match, Victor Huștiu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fergus Fairbairn was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Fergus Fairbairn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Huștiu's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Fergus Fairbairn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Petculescu in the 61st minute of the match. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Rangers FC from getting a goal against them. Marcel Petculescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor Huștiu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fergus Fairbairn firmly grabbed it by the left post. Harold Fraser hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Fergus Fairbairn made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Victor Huștiu sent off a good shot on target. Sandu Gheorghiu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fergus Fairbairn firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 77 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Harold Fraser. In the 79th minute ASF BAIA MARE -MM- were awarded a corner. Ernest Petru went to the cornerflag to take it. The crowd rose to their feet as Victor Huștiu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fergus Fairbairn. That made the score 0-6 in the 82 minute of play. Fergus Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandu Gheorghiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as ASF BAIA MARE -MM-'s Marcel Petculescu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fergus Fairbairn. That made the score 0-7 after 91 minutes of play. Sandu Gheorghiu kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Rangers FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. ASF BAIA MARE -MM- were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
