The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Sportivo Italiano. Reynaldo Stephen had in the 11thth minute some difficulties stopping Teodosio Lop's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Club Sportivo Italiano's zone, Miguel Gilabert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Stephen came out of the goal and Miguel Gilabert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute Miguel Gilabert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Stephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arturo Guib showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theo Hayles, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Edelmiro Gartzen charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edelmiro Gartzen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for La Zabaleta! When Club Sportivo Italiano's Evelio Pes in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 36 played minutes La Zabaleta got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Gilabert. In the 39th minute Evelio Pes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arturo Guib saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evelio Pes in the 45th minute of play forced La Zabaleta's goalkeeper Arturo Guib to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evelio Pes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute of the match, Evelio Pes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Arturo Guib saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 53 minutes into the game, Jurand Kaczanka was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Zabaleta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Sportivo Italiano the free kick. In the 53rd minute, Jurand Kaczanka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arturo Guib showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evelio Pes, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. La Zabaleta's Herminio Cresconio quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Cesar Roderigo, made in the 66th minute of the game. After 67 played minutes Club Sportivo Italiano got a freekick which was hit by Rogelio Claris. Reynaldo Stephen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Gilabert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 76 minutes, Miguel Gilabert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Zabaleta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Gilabert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the La Zabaleta defense, Theo Hayles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arturo Guib. The La Zabaleta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arturo Guib should have stopped the shot. In the 94th minute Miguel Gilabert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Stephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 95 played minutes La Zabaleta got a freekick which was hit by Edelmiro Gartzen. Club Sportivo Italiano's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
