VfL Wolfsburg's Olle Tunander proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save VfL Wolfsburg from getting a goal against them. Olle Tunander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobiasz Blicharz in the 4th minute of the match. Tobiasz Blicharz scored 2-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olle Tunander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gösta Granberg in the 12th minute of play forced Gumisie Rybnik's goalkeeper Miromir Pazura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olle Tunander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobiasz Blicharz, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After having played for 14 minutes, Patrick Albom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VfL Wolfsburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrick Albom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. VfL Wolfsburg's Olle Tunander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Borys Banach in the 15th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Olle Tunander successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Miromir Pazura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gösta Granberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 27th minute of the match VfL Wolfsburg got a corner. Gumisie Rybnik's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gösta Granberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 32nd minute Borys Banach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olle Tunander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olle Tunander made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Ksawery Pilarczyk sent off a good shot on target. When VfL Wolfsburg's Gösta Granberg in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gumisie Rybnik's goalie prevented a goal. In the 42nd minute, Yin Bing Ming hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olle Tunander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Borys Banach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Ksawery Pilarczyk kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Olle Tunander. That made the score 4-0 in the 45 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Borys Banach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Gumisie Rybnik's goalkeeper Miromir Pazura had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hannes Ström. Miromir Pazura was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Hannes Ström capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hannes Ström really showed his touch with that goal: 4-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gösta Granberg in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Miromir Pazura prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gumisie Rybnik's Borys Banach in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VfL Wolfsburg's goalie prevented a goal. Olle Tunander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ksawery Pilarczyk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gumisie Rybnik's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edward Sliwinski in the 65th minute. Edward Sliwinski made a great header on Gumisie Rybnik's corner, it was just that VfL Wolfsburg's Olle Tunander managed to reach the ball for a save. Miromir Pazura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gösta Granberg in the 67th minute of play. With his leg Miromir Pazura managed to avoid a goal in the 70thth minute, when VfL Wolfsburg's Hannes Ström fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Hannes Ströms short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Miromir Pazura to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. VfL Wolfsburg's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gösta Granberg in the 76th minute. The corner led VfL Wolfsburg's Patrick Albom to fire away a dangerous shot which Miromir Pazura despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Olle Tunander came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Gumisie Rybnik's Ksawery Pilarczyk. But to his dismay, Ksawery Pilarczyk quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. In the 80th minute Tobiasz Blicharz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olle Tunander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edward Sliwinski during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of VfL Wolfsburg booed when Gumisie Rybnik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Sliwinski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hannes Ström came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Miromir Pazura could save by the left post. VfL Wolfsburg were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Gumisie Rybnik's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gösta Granberg took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Gösta Granberg got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Miromir Pazura quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 90th match minute, Gumisie Rybnik was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tobiasz Blicharz to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, VfL Wolfsburg's Carlos Valderrama got a free kick in the 96th minute. Olle Tunander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ksawery Pilarczyk in the 96th minute of the match. VfL Wolfsburg's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
