A collision led to Aguirres getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Apolo Paez hit a great ball. Adolfo Vogel struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Miro Rohrer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Reds. In the 25th minute, George Best hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sten Andreasson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Apolo Paez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, The Reds's Sten Andreasson got control of the ball when Brock Friend tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th match minute, The Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benny Kvick to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Aguirres's Sten Andreasson threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Apolo Paez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Aguirres's Apolo Paez got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th match minute, The Reds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnny Lange to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apolo Paez in the 47th minute of play forced The Reds's goalkeeper Sten Andreasson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Isaksson to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Fred Isaksson managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Reds's supporters rose to their feet, but Fred Isaksson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miro Rohrer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A nice corner shot did that Geronimo Medina got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sten Andreasson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A collision led to The Reds getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Yerko Entrena hit a great ball. Aguirres made a substitution. Eduardo Jerano replaced Brock Friend. The supporters of Aguirres booed when The Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yerko Entrena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geronimo Medina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Aguirres's Eduardo Jerano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sten Andreasson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Eduardo Jerano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sten Andreasson was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. With 82 minutes on the clock, Geronimo Medina commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 90th minute, Eduardo Jerano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sten Andreasson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 93rdth minute of the game Eduardo Jerano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Reds's Sten Andreasson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Aguirres's goalkeeper Miro Rohrer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Isaksson. Jairo Moita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Andreasson having to interfere.
