Jerzy Markowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chen Ao Fan in the 6th minute of the match. The corner ended in Hjalmar Hägert almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Stettin's Jerzy Markowski did a great save. Jerzy Markowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chen Ao Fan in the 11th minute of play. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Dem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 15 played minutes Stettin got a freekick which was hit by Radoslaw Niedzwiecki. Stettin's Jerzy Markowski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Stettin from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by He Cheng Quan in the 18th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vidar Björk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Skövde AIK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Vidar Björk was slow to take the kick. During this time Stettin's players had a chance to rest. In the 26th minute, Skövde AIK's Chen Ao Fan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jerzy Markowski. Jerzy Markowski yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from He Cheng Quan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Chen Ao Fan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 37 minutes into the match, Stettin's goalkeeper Jerzy Markowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chen Ao Fan. The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when Stettin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radoslaw Niedzwiecki didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Kevin Keegan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jerzy Markowski showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Chen Ao Fan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chen Ao Fan got free with Jerzy Markowski in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Petersson to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Chen Ao Fan made the kick off in the second half. Knut Rudberg hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Chen Ao Fan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gustaw Werra fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stettin's protests and gave Gustaw Werra a yellow card for diving instead. After 67 played minutes Stettin got a freekick which was hit by Gustaw Werra. After 72 played minutes Stettin got a freekick which was hit by Radoslaw Niedzwiecki. After a rather tough play, Stettin's Radoslaw Niedzwiecki got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Kevin Keegan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chen Ao Fan in the 77th minute of play forced Stettin's goalkeeper Jerzy Markowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jerzy Markowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chen Ao Fan, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Stettin's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kevin Keegan was slow to take the kick. During this time Skövde AIK's players had a chance to rest. In the 96th minute, Chen Ao Fan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jerzy Markowski was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Skövde AIK fans cheered their team off the field, for while Stettin had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
