The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Kevin Keegan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermegildo Horado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Pasqual in the 5th minute of play. After 12 minutes of play, CAI NEUQUEN's Cipriano Pasqual made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olov Wahlnäs was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ermegildo Horado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Petersson to maneuver through the defense. CAI NEUQUEN's Cipriano Pasqual got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Cipriano Pasqual ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Olov Wahlnäs was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Ermegildo Horado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kurt Hamrin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chen Ao Fan got free with Ermegildo Horado in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, CAI NEUQUEN's Ermegildo Horado got control of the ball when Chen Ao Fan tried to sneak it across the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Kevin Keegan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ermegildo Horado, 1-3. The throw-in from Filip Brolin in the 33rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by CAI NEUQUEN's Anacleto Unax. In the 33rd match minute, CAI NEUQUEN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anacleto Unax to maneuver through the defense. Ermegildo Horado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chen Ao Fan's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. The Skövde AIK players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. CAI NEUQUEN were winning 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kevin Keegan made a kick off. After some careless play in the Skövde AIK defense, Lee-Paul Ramon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olov Wahlnäs. The Skövde AIK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olov Wahlnäs should have stopped the shot. Ermegildo Horado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 62nd minute of play. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Jerry Williams replaced Chen Ao Fan. CAI NEUQUEN's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Raul Heriberto in the 68th minute. In the 68th minute, Georg Norström had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. 68 minutes into the game, Cipriano Pasqual was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CAI NEUQUEN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skövde AIK the free kick. Skövde AIK's Melker Hjortsberg was substituted for Georg Norström. After 70 played minutes CAI NEUQUEN got a freekick which was hit by Cipriano Pasqual. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Pasqual in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Skövde AIK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Raul Heriberto was slow to take the kick. During this time CAI NEUQUEN's players had a chance to rest. Dionisio Felo was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ermegildo Horado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 79 minutes into the match, Cipriano Pasqual dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Olov Wahlnäs, 1-5. Olov Wahlnäs made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Miodrag Belo sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th match minute, Skövde AIK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filip Brolin to maneuver through the defense. Cipriano Pasqual recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 92 minutes of play CAI NEUQUEN's Cipriano Pasqual was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Cipriano Pasqual kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match.
