Tiaguinho Sergipano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lanny Gilmore's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Lanny Gilmore scored 1-0 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tiaguinho Sergipano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 25 minutes, Cláudio Donatello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bem Bolado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Donatello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Donatello came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute Magno das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tyron Velasquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the game, Narciso Salles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bem Bolado's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santos FC the free kick. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Bem Bolado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Narciso Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 36 played minutes Bem Bolado got a freekick which was hit by Ernani Barral. Bem Bolado's Tiaguinho Sergipano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Warren Ruiz in the 37th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Lanny Gilmore put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Tiaguinho Sergipano. In the 46th minute of the match Bem Bolado got a corner. Santos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Magno das Neves ran over to the corner to take the kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Magno das Neves made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Bem Bolado's Marquinhos de Andrade got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 58 minutes into the match, Bem Bolado's goal looked a bit too open when Lanny Gilmore came free, but Tiaguinho Sergipano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes into the game, Narciso Salles threw the ball into play from the sideline.
