The supporters of istanbulls booed when Laguna Sunrise FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaldo Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laguna Sunrise FC's Emerson Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patric Bierhoff in the 28th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Laguna Sunrise FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Andrade to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 50thth minute of the game Paulinho Hoffmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 50 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Paulinho Hoffmann sped through istanbulls's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Göksel Canfeda. Göksel Canfeda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Andrade in the 53rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Laguna Sunrise FC's zone, Patric Bierhoff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emerson Leão came out of the goal and Patric Bierhoff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Diguinho Abreu kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Laguna Sunrise FC's Emerson Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Laguna Sunrise FC from getting a goal against them. Alp Enginalp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Patric Bierhoff's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emerson Leão was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. In the 80th minute, Alp Enginalp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 83 minutes into the match, istanbulls's Alp Enginalp sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emerson Leão narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 86th minute of the match istanbulls got a corner. Laguna Sunrise FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ferdi Coşan ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 87 played minutes Laguna Sunrise FC got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Correia. A hard shot 88 in the game by Patric Bierhoff from a close distance when the talented Emerson Leão managed to make a qualified save. Laguna Sunrise FC's players were relieved. In the 90th minute istanbulls were awarded a corner. Ferdi Coşan went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on istanbulls's corner Ferdi Coşan fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Emerson Leão quite easily take care of the ball. Arnaldo Marquez's late challenge caught a istanbulls's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnaldo Marquez helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of istanbulls booed when Laguna Sunrise FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Patric Bierhoff sped through Laguna Sunrise FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emerson Leão. The Laguna Sunrise FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. istanbulls were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
