Serter Doğay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Netto having to interfere. In the 14th minute of the game Eurico Cordeiro made a throw-in which Loïc Duprey played forward. Frank Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serter Doğay, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The audience was convinced that Waldir Cearense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frank Fiori was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. If Serter Doğay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Serter Doğay in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frank Netto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Waldir Cearense to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrique Berger got free with Frank Fiori in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tamboril's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
