Vestfjorden FK were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Dundee Rovers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jørund Sætra took the corner. Cosimo Grilli made a great header on Vestfjorden FK's corner, it was just that Dundee Rovers's Brandon Borthwick managed to reach the ball for a save. Gil Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nick McDonachie in the 18th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cosimo Grilli in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brandon Borthwick prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21 played minutes Dundee Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Josh Galloway. In the 24th minute of the match, Jacob McCuish tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gil Ceni saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Gil Ceni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arthur McKelvie, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Brandon Borthwick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cosimo Grilli in the 30th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Dundee Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Cosimo Grilli came free, but Brandon Borthwick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vestfjorden FK's Cosimo Grilli got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jacob McCuish charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacob McCuish the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosimo Grilli in the 38th minute of play forced Dundee Rovers's goalkeeper Brandon Borthwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cosimo Grilli scored 0-2 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brandon Borthwick, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 45th minute Oliver McIlvride shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Ceni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, Jacob McCuish ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gil Ceni was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After the first half Vestfjorden FK were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nick McDonachie to strike the kick off in the second half. Cosimo Grilli struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Brandon Borthwick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vestfjorden FK. In the 60th minute Vestfjorden FK were awarded a corner. Jørund Sætra went to the cornerflag to take it. Thor Hesjedal struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Brandon Borthwick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Gil Ceni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nick McDonachie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Dundee Rovers lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
