Dennis Hermansson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Julio Tinoco made a huge save. After 44 minutes of play, Curicó-Unido's Román Hoefler made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edgar Poe was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Augusto Fantini was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Georg Wiberg in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Tinoco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Curicó-Unido booed when Royal Excel Mouscron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florian Flaskgaard didn't get a good kick on the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Royal Excel Mouscron's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Vargas came free, but Edgar Poe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Poe was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Eduardo Vargas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eduardo Vargas really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. Marcel Linhares kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Curicó-Unido had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
