Blas Urtungo made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 37thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Eskil Vester would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Eskil Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Román Hoefler, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Curicó-Unido's zone, Emilio Cascajares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Tinoco came out of the goal and Emilio Cascajares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilio Cascajares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Curicó-Unido's Julio Tinoco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Curicó-Unido from getting a goal against them. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
