A collision led to BK Forward getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Åke Käller hit a great ball. In the 5th minute Sune Axelsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keefe Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oldham Athletic's Guo Han Di proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Oldham Athletic from getting a goal against them. Daniel Martínez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Guo Han Di made a huge save. 12 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Martínez came free, but Guo Han Di reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Martínez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Guo Han Di came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Martínez slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 18th minute. 22 minutes into the match, BK Forward's Daniel Martínez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guo Han Di narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 23 minutes Oldham Athletic's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ulf Lövkvist who took care of the corner kick. Keefe Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhao Yao Ying in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Guo Han Di had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcus Kinell. When the match had been going on for 30 minutes Zhao Yao Ying shot a great shot from long distance. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Keefe Paulsen when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Zhao Yao Ying sped through BK Forward's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Keefe Paulsen. Keefe Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhao Yao Ying in the 36th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zhao Yao Ying in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Keefe Paulsen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 42nd minute Gösta Brolin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keefe Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Sune Axelsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Keefe Paulsen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zhao Yao Ying to make the kick off. When BK Forward's Daniel Martínez in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind BK Forward's goalkeeper Keefe Paulsen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Oldham Athletic's Zhao Yao Ying in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BK Forward's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sune Axelsson got free with Keefe Paulsen in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 73rd minute Daniel Martínez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guo Han Di saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 武珂川's late challenge caught a Oldham Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. 武珂川 helped the player get up and apologised. Keefe Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian-Federico Dolić in the 75th minute of play. With his leg Keefe Paulsen managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Oldham Athletic's Zhao Yao Ying fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 80 minutes of play, Oldham Athletic's Zhao Yao Ying made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Keefe Paulsen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Guo Han Di showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Kinell in the 85th minute of the match. Daniel Martínez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guo Han Di having to make a save. Oldham Athletic's Guo Han Di played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Martínez in the 86th minute of play. BK Forward's Keefe Paulsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save BK Forward from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute, Gösta Brolin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcus Kinell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guo Han Di having to interfere. After 94th play minutes Zhao Yao Ying shot 1-4, a short shot which went by Keefe Paulsen and just under the crossbar into goal. Oldham Athletic's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
