The audience thought a goal was coming when Dimitris Koudas got free with August Hjortberg in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kristian Malmström kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Qiao Nan Wen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Panos Ntountas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but August Hjortberg made a huge save. Flamengo's Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Konstantinos Meletiou in the 32 minute of the game. Qiao Nan Wen struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Andreas Kousoulakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flamengo. Andreas Kousoulakis had in the 37thth minute some difficulties stopping Stig-Arne Ekerot's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Olympiacos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Qiao Nan Wen came free, but Andreas Kousoulakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andreas Kousoulakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Qiao Nan Wen in the 41st minute of play. In the 45th minute, Qiao Nan Wen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Flamengo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Qiao Nan Wen was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolae Dobrin in the 52nd minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Andreas Kousoulakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Olympiacos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Li Nan Yu was slow to take the kick. During this time Flamengo's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Li Nan Yu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Andreas Kousoulakis quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Olympiacos FC's Soulis Partalis was substituted for Panos Ntountas. Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Flamengo made a substitution. Kasper Bivall replaced Qiao Nan Wen. In the 62nd match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Flamengo's zone, Soulis Partalis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. August Hjortberg came out of the goal and Soulis Partalis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 68 minutes into the game, Soulis Partalis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. August Hjortberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olympiacos FC's Andreas Kousoulakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolae Dobrin in the 72nd minute of play. Kasper Bivall blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andreas Kousoulakis having to make a save. Flamengo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
