Nicu Slavici was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 26 minutes into the match. After 25 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Romos FC! The referee gave Olympiacos FC a penalty, 27 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Panos Ntountas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Romos FC's Ovidiu Cosâmbescu. 0-1. Ovidiu Cosâmbescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panos Ntountas in the 34th minute of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Panos Ntountas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Romos FC's Ovidiu Cosâmbescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Olympiacos FC got a corner. Romos FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sakis Paragioudakis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sakis Paragioudakis made a great header on Olympiacos FC's corner, it was just that Romos FC's Ovidiu Cosâmbescu managed to reach the ball for a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dimitris Xiros in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ovidiu Cosâmbescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The wind increased when Panos Ntountas made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Lazaros Tsakrilis got a free kick in the 51st minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Giorgos Soufleris heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Soulis Partalis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ovidiu Cosâmbescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Olympiacos FC's Andreas Kousoulakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wu Cheng De in the 66th minute of play. Soulis Partalis who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Ovidiu Cosâmbescu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Soulis Partalis got free with Ovidiu Cosâmbescu in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 77 minutes, Dimitris Koudas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olympiacos FC and the Romos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 78 played minutes Olympiacos FC got a freekick which was hit by Sakis Paragioudakis. Wu Cheng De sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Olympiacos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel-Alejandro Cristian came free, but Andreas Kousoulakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ovidiu Cosâmbescu made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Soulis Partalis sent off a good shot on target. In the 95th minute, Wu Cheng De got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Although Romos FC had been in control for most of the match, Olympiacos FC still came away with the win.
