The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio Prudente's zone, Ali Baran Aydın stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio Prudente's zone, Meriç Özsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovanildo Silva came out of the goal and Meriç Özsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Mehmet Hakkı Suhan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovanildo Silva was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Edson Ribeiro in the 37thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Cláudio Taffarel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Edson Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Taffarel having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Grêmio Prudente's Lucrețiu Grigore nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cláudio Taffarel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. After the first half AKÇEŞMESPOR were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Edson Ribeiro made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, AKÇEŞMESPOR's goal looked a bit too open when Lucrețiu Grigore came free, but Cláudio Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucrețiu Grigore, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Cláudio Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edson Ribeiro in the 52nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mehmet Hakkı Suhan in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geovanildo Silva saved Grêmio Prudente from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Baran Aydın in the 66th minute of play forced Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper Geovanildo Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laureano Lisboa hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. AKÇEŞMESPOR made a substitution. Vahdet Konguralp replaced Mehmet Hakkı Suhan. The Grêmio Prudente supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching AKÇEŞMESPOR's performance. The match ended with a win for AKÇEŞMESPOR.
