Stellenbosch's Pedro Pelayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per Hellgren in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Stellenbosch's Osvaldo Bernat nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dino Zoff made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Osvaldo Bernat could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Dino Zoff made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herbert Pluciennik in the 16th minute of play forced Stellenbosch's goalkeeper Pedro Pelayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, 11ABRASIL's goal looked a bit too open when Mao Zhen came free, but Dino Zoff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of 11ABRASIL booed when Stellenbosch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mao Zhen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 11ABRASIL's Per Hellgren got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
