Guaberto Boniel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flóki Cabezudo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarle Volden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Stellenbosch's Juan Fernando Quinteros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jarle Volden narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by Kjønstad BF's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jesus Paskal was slow to take the kick. During this time Stellenbosch's players had a chance to rest. Jesus Paskal made a great header on Stellenbosch's corner, it was just that Kjønstad BF's Jarle Volden managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 12th minute, Juan Fernando Quinteros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stellenbosch fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Stellenbosch's Severo Mingo got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jarle Volden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severo Mingo in the 27th minute of play. Flóki Cabezudo scored 0-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jarle Volden, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 38th match minute, Kjønstad BF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nechifor Mangra to maneuver through the defense. Odysseas Katramados kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Stellenbosch's Laureano Gora was substituted for Gerke Krupp. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Flóki Cabezudo to make the kick off. A collision led to Kjønstad BF getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Abelardo Odon hit a great ball. In the 63rd minute Fidel Martxelin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarle Volden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Pelayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thor Gaarder in the 64th minute of play. Kjønstad BF's Reidar Nordhaug was substituted for Toma Lechev. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reidar Nordhaug in the 71st minute of play forced Stellenbosch's goalkeeper Pedro Pelayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kjønstad BF's goalkeeper Jarle Volden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 76 minutes into the game, Stellenbosch's Fidel Martxelin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Bernat couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute, Reidar Nordhaug made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Pelayo. Stellenbosch's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Pedro Pelayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reidar Nordhaug in the 91st minute of play. Stellenbosch's Pedro Pelayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reidar Nordhaug in the 94th minute of play.
