With an extended leg and a bit of luck André Courtois prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Franco Sampler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedict Cumberbatch in the 16th minute of play. In the 35th minute Kent Lindberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mercado Paulista F.C's Felix Marino got a free kick in the 36th minute. Márk Kovács in the 38thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Franco Sampler, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 48 minutes into the match, Mercado Paulista F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Staffan Apelqvist came free, but Franco Sampler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Franco Sampler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquin Phoenix, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. If Joaquin Phoenix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Templars FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mercado Paulista F.C had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
