Kryspin Cupial was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Niclas Monschke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Toxeiro having to interfere. Antti Ariva kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Everardo Arias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 19th match minute, SSV Ulm 1846 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven-Olof Lilja to maneuver through the defense. Kryspin Cupial made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Everardo Arias in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute of the match Real Club Celta de Vigo got a corner. SSV Ulm 1846's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Guillermo Marin ran over to the corner to take the kick. Guillermo Marin made a great header on Real Club Celta de Vigo's corner, it was just that SSV Ulm 1846's Kryspin Cupial managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Merlot in the 23rd minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pepe Toxeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Merlot in the 26th minute of the match. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Real Club Celta de Vigo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sven-Olof Lilja was slow to take the kick. During this time SSV Ulm 1846's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on SSV Ulm 1846's corner Jose Ramon Talcao fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pepe Toxeiro quite easily take care of the ball. 29 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's Niclas Monschke sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pepe Toxeiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Everardo Arias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kryspin Cupial took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Everardo Arias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niclas Monschke struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Pepe Toxeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SSV Ulm 1846. 45 minutes into the game, Poli Urquijo threw the ball into play from the sideline. SSV Ulm 1846's Sven-Olof Lilja quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The SSV Ulm 1846 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Real Club Celta de Vigo were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Everardo Arias made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Merlot in the 54th minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 64 minutes, Poli Urquijo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Club Celta de Vigo and the SSV Ulm 1846 players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Real Club Celta de Vigo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Poli Urquijo to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute, Calisto Camacho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pepe Toxeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Don Merlot in the 69th minute of play. The corner led SSV Ulm 1846's Sven-Olof Lilja to fire away a dangerous shot which Pepe Toxeiro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 74 played minutes Real Club Celta de Vigo got a freekick which was hit by Ferman Torres. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Merlot in the 77th minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute Niclas Monschke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Toxeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th match minute, SSV Ulm 1846 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonso Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Renato Tapia was substituted for Mateo Lopez. In the 86th minute, Afonso Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Real Club Celta de Vigo's zone, Albrecht Bosbach stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pepe Toxeiro came out of the goal and Albrecht Bosbach tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle went the supporters of Real Club Celta de Vigo were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant SSV Ulm 1846 side.
