Ferry Porsche blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wieslaw Panasewicz having to make a save. Wieslaw Panasewicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ferry Porsche in the 8th minute. Ferry Porsche recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Alfredo Geleberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferry Porsche could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Wieslaw Panasewicz made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferry Porsche in the 41st minute of play forced Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Wieslaw Panasewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner led Gimnasia y tiro's Esben Nordborg to fire away a dangerous shot which Yusuf Ziya Özkan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Adamantios Tziolis made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Gimnasia y tiro's Zhuang Fan Jing. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Gimnasia y tiro's Luisito Eguntsenti was substituted for Victoriano Ubelteso. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ferry Porsche to make the kick off.
