Cristian Blanco hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Arquímedes Cesario came free, but Serafino Jurdan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 13 played minutes Los Delfines got a freekick which was hit by Valentin Primeiro. Serafino Jurdan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raimundo Goyo, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Goyo in the 44th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Adan Chinto hit a great ball.

When Silverio Tuste came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Newells Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silverio Tuste couldn't finish the play. Serafino Jurdan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zachary Pliszka, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute.
