In the 3rd minute Edgar Marques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serafino Jurdan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan Abrahamsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 11th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Edgar Marques had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Serafino Jurdan. Newells Old Boys's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edgar Marques was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 19th minute, Silverio Tuste left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newells Old Boys fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Jan Abrahamsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 23rd minute of play. Jan Abrahamsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André-Pierre Gignac in the 29th minute of the match. Jan Abrahamsson made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Cristian Blanco sent off a good shot on target. 31 minutes into the game, Cristian Blanco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jan Abrahamsson. Cristian Blanco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Edgar Marques's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Serafino Jurdan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. PP Plessydask were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Newells Old Boys's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Artemio Lastur took the corner. PP Plessydask's Artemio Lastur was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Serafino Jurdan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Serafino Jurdan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar Marques in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Silverio Tuste left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newells Old Boys fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Silverio Tuste could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Jan Abrahamsson made a huge save. The supporters of PP Plessydask booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adan Chinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edgar Marques made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Edgar Marques who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Edgar Marques might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Serafino Jurdan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Marques ran back to his position shaking his head. A sloppy throw-in by Elias Medeiros in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by PP Plessydask's Lu Sheng Peng. In the 61st minute, André-Pierre Gignac got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. PP Plessydask's Marcin Harasimowicz was substituted for Edgar Marques. PP Plessydask made a substitution. Bertil Lundberg replaced Mustafa Jamil. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcin Harasimowicz in the 66th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcin Harasimowicz in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Serafino Jurdan saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind PP Plessydask's goalkeeper Jan Abrahamsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 76th minute of the match Newells Old Boys got a corner. PP Plessydask's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Elias Medeiros ran over to the corner to take the kick. Adan Chinto was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Sungur Tekin made in the 83rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Bertil Lundberg. In the 88th minute, Silverio Tuste ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jan Abrahamsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. In the 93rd minute, Marcin Harasimowicz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The PP Plessydask fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Elias Medeiros hit a great ball.
